Mashal Zahra is a multidisciplinary designer and educator from Pakistan, focused on sustainability. Trained in textiles, her work is deeply informed by curiosity, often driven by the desire to capture abstract emotions or fleeting moments in tangible forms. Her design practice reflects a deep engagement with community, memory, archiving, and nostalgia, with a strong focus on storytelling through traditional crafts and color. Mashal is also currently exploring how our relationship with the material world is shaped by the systems we've built around ourselves, affecting both the ecosystem and our individual lives. Embracing circular design principles, she aims to foster sustainability within the industrial production chain while rethinking design from an ethical perspective. Currently pursuing an MA in Social Design at MICA, she is investigating life-centered design and the impact of design on social change. Beyond her design practice, Mashal finds inspiration in the outdoors, observing and connecting with nature, drawing from its beauty to fuel her creativity and research.
